Furnace 2010

Furnace 2010 marked our landmark fifth year of a fantastic weekend’s gaming. The Garrison Hotel continues to be home to Furnace, and this year our numbers topped 70. We had a real mix of games, with classics such as D&D, Call of Cthulhu, and Traveller, plus a host of new and indie games like Empire!, Dead of Night, OpenQuest and Wordplay.

If you’d like to see the full list of games run, view the final programme via the link below.

The raffle took place for a second year, with approximately a third of attendees going away with prizes. We also continued our tradition of rewarding those GMs who run multiple games with vouchers for Patriot Games, Sheffield’s friendly local gaming store.

On the trade stands, Jim from Patriot Games joined us again, offering a wide variety of games and t-shirts for sale. We were also pleased to welcome back Bob from Reapers Revenge for the second time with dice galore, and the Collective Endeavour returned, both selling and running games.

Attendees Memories

We asked attendees how Furnace 2010 was for them and here’s what some of them said…

“Well Furnace has come and gone, and what an impression it has left. Speaking for both myself and my friends that came with, we had an excellent time. We have already decided to return next year and (hopefully) stay for the two days.” – Tony

“I had a great Furnace. It’s my fifth (if I’m counting right) and it still retains my vote as the best con that I go to. Hoping that 2011 brings another one!” – Dom Mooney

“Top marks to the committee – five years is it now? I’ve been to every one so far and have no intention of stopping. With 18 Furnace Reffed Games under my belt, I’m looking forward to breaking that 20 barrier next time.” – Evil Gaz
